We thank our Board of Trustees, Senior Administration, staff, students, families, volunteers, community partners, and our parishes for their continued support and commitment to Sudbury Catholic. Together we are providing a caring, progressive, high quality Catholic school system that is nurturing our students – mind, body, and spirit.

Holy Cross Students Enjoying the Sun and Snow

Taking advantage of the sunny day, students in Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School’s grade 3/4 class had the opportunity to go for a snowshoeing adventure recently. Teacher Christina Lucciantonio said it was “a great way for the students to get some fresh air and enjoy the fresh powdery snow!”

SCDSB Cheers on LU

Sudbury Catholic District School Board elementary students were invited to cheer on their local Laurentian University Voyageurs hockey team during one of their season games. Students from St. Francis, Holy Cross, St. David, Holy Trinity, and St. Benedict packed the arena as they cheered on the Voyageurs as they won a victory over Nipissing 3-2 in a shootout.

Second Annual Cubs and Bears Junior Co-ed Soccer Tournament Results

On June 15, 2014, Holy Cross Catholic Elementary and St. Benedict Catholic Secondary Schools hosted the second annual Cubs and Bears Junior Co-ed soccer tournament. Participating were 15 teams from 3 different schools boards – the English and French Catholic boards as well as the French Public.

The top 4 teams are as follows: 1st place Jean-Paul 2 2nd place Holy Cross 6

3rd plac St. John 4th place Holy Cross 5

Congratulations to all the teams, students and coaches for a job well done!
Thank you to all the volunteers and staff that co-ordinated the tournament, and helped to make it such a success!

Holy Cross Takes Gold at First Annual Regal Invitational Junior Co-ed Basketball Tournament

On April 5th and 6th, Marymount Academy held its first Regal’s Invitational Junior Co-ed Basketball tournament. Eleven teams in total took part in this tournament and it was a round robin format with elimination matches for the finals. A huge thank you to Marymount Academy teacher Colin Lapalme who organized and coordinated this new tournament.

The Holy Cross A team captured the gold medal winning the final againstt Felix Ricard in a very exciting game. Felix Ricard captured the silver medal. Congratulations to all the teams for a job well done!

Inaugural Cubs and Bears Junior Co-ed Volleyball Tournament

On December 9th, Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School held its first Junior Coed Volleyball Tournament. This tournament was run in collaboration with St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School.
Newly dubbed the “Cubs and Bears Junior Co-ed Volleyball Tournament”, there was a total of 15 teams entered with a round robin in three pools with the top 2 teams in each pool advancing to the finals (also included the top two 3rd place teams advancing as well to the quarter finals).

The results are as follows: Gold medal winners Holy Cross 2 coach Mr. Gallien.
Silver medallist St. James A team coach Mr. Lariviere
Bronze medallist St. Anne B team coaches: Mrs. Mazerolle and
Mr. Merigioli
Fourth place finalist St. Paul coaches: Mrs. Valiquette and Stacey Vendramin

This was history in the making as it is the first year of existence for Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School and were able to have four teams entered in this tournament. This is the first of many types of tournaments that will run as a joint effort.
